The Hunt for a New OC Sheriff
Bruce Cohen, former head of the OC Libertarian party
I will be personally supporting Mister Hunt in his
effort to become Sheriff. You are welcome to contact me by phone or
email if you would like to be part of putting a fair, honest,
constitutionally minded police officer as head of Orange County 's
main law enforcement body.
Bill Hunt had the support of the
majority of the cops in the street, by a long shot, when he narrowly
missed forcing a runoff in the general election, just a short time
ago.
He had my support, while Chair of the LPOC and the
majority of LP Officers, as well.
It's my hope that he be
given the interim job as Sheriff, and that he be appointed as the
Sheriff, once Carona resigns, or is expelled.
I will also be
supporting the Board of Supervisors initiative to pass a very fair
sounding law giving that body the power, in extreme instances, to
expel an elected County Official, with an 80% vote.
Bill has
personally expressed his desire to become the Sheriff of our fair
County at this time, and I do believe he is the best person for the
job.
He has the bottom-up experience, having risen through
the ranks and held every single position, not 'leapfrogging' his way
up to Police Chief of San Clemente.
Speaking of San Clemente
, he was extraordinarily well liked and respected by the citizens of
said city, as well as their Mayor and I believe, the City Council.
Bill Hunt is the 'Boy Scout' of a cop that is a straight
shooter, fair and honorable that can and will restore the good name
of Orange County 's Law Enforcement community.
I'll be
talking to you more in the near future about this.
The bad
news is yes, Orange County does have a black eye over the situation.
The good news is that it seems to be restricted just to Mister
Carona and his inner circle of cronies, his wife and his mistress,
and the cancer hasn't spread.
With a quick change of
leadership, and a small bit of housecleaning, the Orange County
Sheriff Department can go on to do the good work they can and will. |
